Atul T. Patel, MD, MHSA, is a practicing physiatrist in the Kansas City area and has been with Kansas City Bone & Joint Clinic since 2001.  His clinical areas of interest include musculoskeletal medicine, neuropathic pain, spasticity, movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and dystonias, stroke rehabilitation, multiple sclerosis, nerve and muscle diseases, geriatrics, electrodiagnostic medicine and general rehabilitation medicine.

Dr. Patel has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Houston, obtained his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, and completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Washington.  He has a master’s degree in rehabilitation medicine from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in healthcare service administration from the University of Kansas.

Dr. Patel is board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and has subspecialty certifications in Neuromuscular Medicine, Brain Injury Medicine, and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. 

Dr. Patel is active in several professional organizations.  He has authored several journal articles and book chapters and lectures regularly on electrodiagnosis, sonography, neurotoxins, and various other subjects.
